Obviously Sadistic

People keep asking why I use _____ in the game _____, and the answer is because I'm evil. I have been sent, specifically, to torture you. I am obviously sadistic. My cruelty has spawned a need for a new category to add to the list along with the "what do you use to record" column and the "r u gurl or kid" column. I keep saying that I should really run statistics on this. I think there's a special list for Diablo and Dungeon Siege comments that we need to explore as well, specifically "number 3 in the series sucks" comments.

Thank Amy for bringing this up again. Now it's going to be stuck in my head all day.

It's ten years old now. How does that make you feel?

Soundtrackssssss

Today's theme is "classic games people played in their childhood that I never played in my childhood...which mostly includes console games"

I'll be peppering it with random thoughts I have at the time...or while I'm listening. Enjoy.

Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary - It's still really cold in my office, which makes no sense because it's super warm outside. I'd say the boiler isn't working, but like the A/C, it's ALWAYS on. Also, people don't seem to realize how easy identifying plagarized projects and writing is. I love the people who copy and paste from Wikipedia personally. They're normally so lazy they don't take out the links or reference numbers.

Super Mario 64 - Mario was something I'd always try to get my friends with NES to play because I didn't get to play it at home. I remember at my one friend's house we were taking turns playing Super Mario World while the rest of us tried to do backflips onto a mattress with a bunch of pillows. Not the wisest idea in hindsight, but some girls at a gymnastics meet my dad had to go to were being catty little twits and said I wasn't able/allowed to do them. I don't think we actually accomplished a real back flip, but screw those girls anyway.

Zelda Ocarina of Time - I remember I was sitting on the train playing something on my DS and this dude comes over, sits next to me and asks me what I'm playing. I told him and then went to put my headphones back in, but then I got bombarded with a 30 minute rant about how he was an expert at Zelda games and that he knew everything about them. I guess he was just really passionate about that game and thought it would impress me. Knowing me, I was probably playing Fire Emblem and likely wanted to focus on that. In the grand scheme of weird people I've encountered on the train though, he was pretty normal. He's got nothing on Harvey and the Decorum Woman.

I have skittles.

One of my coworkers found my YouTube and watched all my Fire Emblem videos. I knew my silly/terrible readings of all the lines would come back to haunt me. Hi Rob.

Final Fantasy VII - This is a very long soundtrack.

Deadpool just educated me about testicular cancer.

Trine 2 DLC is being released now. Not sure what the release schedule is going to look like after this. I am likely going to start releasing Evil Within fairly soon since I'm...actually working on it. It's as bad as I remember. Going to be releasing random videos in the meantime. It'll likely be Gauntlet, Fire Emblem, and Murdered Soul Suspect.

Public Drive Update

Found a bunch of unreleased videos including some footage that never made it to finished LP status. I uploaded some of them to the unreleased footage public drive. I will be adding some of this to the compilation I'm planning, but for now, enjoy things such as Rayman while I'm sick and drugged up, a crummy video featuring a wagon getting sucked into another dimension and Lone Survivor footage.

Also check this drive if any videos are blocked for you on YouTube and you're interested in watching. Chances are they're there (I may still be missing one or two Bioshock ones).

Fasten Your Seatbelts

I've spent the last week listening to random techno and it all started because I found an interesting sounding artist on the recommended videos list for a Breaking Benjamin album. Now I've had like the same 2 or 3 songs stuck in my head...but mostly just the main beats of them.

Hold Your Colour - I feel like 80s Disneyland met Jamaican Celldweller in a dark alley and the result is their forbidden lovechild, Pendulum.

So I have no idea what sort of soundtracks I'm in the mood for today.

Princess Mononoke - Shauna suggestion
Rock of Ages - I don't think this is what Delta had in mind when he suggested it...
Juno - Amy suggestion

Video Work Update - basically stagnant. Almost have a Gauntlet video done. Trine 2 is done but I mentioned that at some point...

I'm officially out of Fire Emblem videos to post. I have one more but I want to make part 11 first because I was an idiot, got over-confident and someone got a javelin to the face and died. It might have been Ike. I was thinking of redoing the level, recording all the way to the end, stopping the video, then starting a new video so that you have the option of watching me play it again or just skipping to the next video to see the end. I'll name the parts like...11a and 11b or something. Anyway I'll try to record more over the weekend.

Update RPG - Got some of Purple and Grey configured. Getting ready for a stress test for triggers. I want to know exactly how far I can go before the game's performance snaps in half. Will be testing this on a semi-crappy laptop.

Update Writing - basically stagnant. Figured out some dialogue. About it.

Don't ask what I did this past week. Why? Put it this way: I forget what day it is about three or four times a day. It's been really busy.

RPG Making...also Soundtrack Thursday

I started making an RPG as of this week. It was a good distraction and got me as angry as I expected. Okay, it wasn't that bad. It's just the walls suddenly decided collision wasn't for them and I found that I could walk freely into the endless abyss. I scrapped all of the little I accomplished and started over. I seemed to have fixed it for now, but some event-triggering bullshit caused it and I couldn't reproduce it with vigorous guess and check testing. So...onwards.

I have a testing ground to play around with triggers and events so I don't screw around with the actual project. Right now I'm stuck on a specific kind of event trigger (one that I'll be using a lot). I'll be back on the testing grounds either tonight or tomorrow to figure that bit out. Either way, the real challenge is going to be creating custom items, textures, effects and animations. The rest of this is cake compared to that. Also messing around with the battle system...

Guardians of the Galaxy - done before but I was listening to it so...
Pillars of Eternity - Since I'm planning on playing this eventually, I'm curious.
So far it sounds like pretty generic RPG type stuff.
It's nice background music, but not sure if it's what I'm looking to listen to today. Hmm...
Prince of Persia Sands of Time - Might be more of the cadence I'm looking for.
Unreal Tournament 3 - It was in the related tracks list.\

Trine 2 is finished as of...Tuesday. Yes it was Tuesday. I'll be working to post the rest of that shortly. Going to be starting Myst 4 fairly soon. I'll likely get through the entire series before I post any of these videos, so I sort of have a completed backlog of videos of people who want to see me confused and eventually working out puzzles.

Also:
My boots are leaking. Both of them. They have holes somewhere cause after 10 mins of walking my socks were soaked. I need new boots now...great.

Chips for Dinner

Because I'm in a lot of pain and don't feel like making anything. Stupid body.

Nick has posted his first video and set up his channel. Posting here so you all check it out and go send him a friendly comment. He'll be uploading regularly.

Myst 3 is done.

Apparently I need to play Blood Omen. I'll add it to the list along with Pillars of Eternity.

Ganna go lie down now.

I Pressed Publish Instead of Save

You know...it kind of weirds me out when people say I have a "sexy voice" on my videos. Not for the reason you think either. It weirds me out, because half of YouTube thinks I'm a pre-pubescent boy. That raises some very interesting questions for some of these random viewers.

I should start telling people I am a 12-year-old boy just to mess with them.

Summary of my week so far:
-Back to work, huge queue of projects to review, reminded that monthly reports need to be done
-All but one report breaks. One of them broke because SOMEONE couldn't get the support needed one day sooner (slacker).
-Spend thirty minutes trying to get the reports to work while working remotely with one of the only people who knows how these reports work (more or less).
-After not being able to get the reports to work, give up and work on the one that did run.
-Coffee
-Get mad at Argentina because it keeps resetting its filter to not show up.
-Lost Puerto Rico for 10-15 minutes.
-Got Puerto Rico back.
-Coffee
-Died in Gauntlet for about three hours.
-Filled up my hard drives again.
-Lamp works (yey)
-Too much coffee and couldn't sleep (actually was likely tea that did this).
-Keep falling asleep during the last 30 minutes of watching Mesk and HKS' Divinity LP. I'M ALMOST DONE WATCHING GUYS (on segment 27 now and yes, that perception thing was stupid).
-Nearly threw my radio out the window because the morning radio hosts for the channel I normally listen to in the morning make me want to puke rainbows every single day. Changed the channel in haste to some really chill folk music station. Currently searching for a new radio station that's interesting enough to wake me up but intelligent enough to keep me from waking up angry. Currently on some crappy modern pop channel, but at least the hosts don't make me want to kill myself...or them.
-Coffee
-Spend 5+ hours working with development to get reports working.
-Reports eventually work after a lot of dirty hacks.
-Coffee
-Receive an angry support ticket in French.
-Inventory still broken cause SOMEONE didn't mark down two days worth of inventory even though it takes literally 5 seconds to do. Literally.
-Found out that even my boss is scared of me yelling at him over inventory (I don't actually yell...I just leave passive aggressive and confused notes all over the spreadsheet).
-Vacuum is now projectile vomiting debris
-Another segment of Gauntlet edited. I hit 100 deaths on the counter.
-LANTERNS ACQUIRED
-Coffee
-Yay free breakfast
-Finally finished reports. If there are any mistakes I will actually cry.
-Called a hotel to book two rooms for later in the year after trying another number and getting no answer for three weeks. Learn that the phone number, the one listen on their site, has "limited hours" (i.e. no hours). Book two rooms. Get confirmation for one. Need to call again.
-Coffee etc.
-Find out another report needs to be run for next week (might actually cry).
-Spend an hour and a half driving to work because of bad roads (normally takes about 30 mins)

And now I'm here for soundtrack Thursday, drinking coffee again and putting off testing the final report. Because do not want.

Oblivion Soundtrack
Elder Scrolls Online
Diablo 2 - because who needs themes?

I'll be gone over the weekend and will not be available unless you happen to catch me checking my phone at the top of a mountain in -10C + windchill weather. Because that's only place that gets reception on that mountain and it's hard sharing a wifi connection that only allows two connections at a time. Unless all this has changed in the last year. Also going to look for a blanket I left behind...only I'm not sure what it's been through in the last year. I may not want it back. Not going to die first OR second in Werewolves this time.

...but if I do, it was Mel. Avenge me.

Speaking of falling face first...

EDIT 1: Went to run reports and discovered I had no idea what R File to use. Spend 30 mins trying to run the most recent ones to see if they work. Finally found the one I was supposed to use in the first place after a lot of hoop jumping. Still don't know if it will run. I get to wait two hours to find out unless it snaps in half.

EDIT 2: Kathleen wrote a book. She's trying to hire an editor. She is an awesome writer. You should go support her. She will be giving out cool stuff to people. Kathleen's GoFundMe.

EDIT 3: Shauna has a good number of videos up on her channel now. Like Dragon Age? You should go watch. Don't like Dragon Age? You should go watch. Shauna's Channel. Nick is also starting to do LPs. He is not ready yet. I will post a link when he is ready.

EDIT 4: Update on those reports 'cause I know you were all holding your breath on this one (that was sarcasm if you're like me and don't pick up on these things). I was running the wrong shit at first. I had to run back and cancel the report started and it exploded spectacularly. Once I got everything up and running I altered the .csv it was reading. Then I spent the next three hours futzing around with dates and formats. I figured out it was having issues with the way it was written (it's case sensitive), only I changed it in the wrong place when I was testing it. I was too stupid to pick up on this and assumed I was an idiot and had nothing to do with case sensitivity. I left frustrated last night and asked Oliver about it. He confirmed case sensitivity would mess with it. Came in today, changed it in the RIGHT place and it's currently running now. 10 minutes of work today and it's running. Ugh thank god this week is almost over.

Rock on.

2016

I posted some half-assed messages on G+, but I'll say it here again. Hope you all had a lovely holiday and happy new year.

I have managed to get a little video editing done over the holidays despite me being back with family for a few days. I have a ton of unreleased, incomplete footage that I may pull the best parts out of and release as a compilation video for the new year. I won't say what's going to be in it cause even I'm not so sure. Either way, as I go through things I'll be pulling footage from each.

Dead Space 2 is on the top of my list to just get finished. I don't think I have much left on it.

SOMA is top of the list for LPs with Shauna.

Gauntlet is top of the list for LPs with Mesk and HKS. SR4 is top of the list for LPs with Mesk.

FEAR 3 is top of the list for Delta.

It's not really the right blog for this, whatever. It's 2016 and as of this year, I will have been working on this writing project for 10 years. It has been a decade since I started version 1, which I worked on for about a year and a half. It's been 6 years since I started version 2. It's been 4 years since version 2.5 when I truly started working on it, and 4 months since I started building a reader version (i.e. version 3). Still working away on it whenever I can.

Pain in right side is slowly going away. The lymph nodes were what the lingering pain was from. Not sure what that means other than they were irritated or something. Anyway, I have a theory about what's going on, which will make the next few years of my life very interesting...at least medically. Good news is if I'm right, I may be able to prevent this kind of bullshit from happening for awhile.
