Did I Have a Weekend?

What actually happened this weekend? Lordy, it's a black hole of vagueness. I remember Friday afternoon I finished all the important stuff at work so I helped build some of our LEGO Simpson's house at work (70% of it has been sitting in a box for like 3 years). I think Friday night I stayed home, worked on Evil Within and just hung around home. Saturday I remember joining a games night with Shauna and I confirmed how terrible of a singer I am by playing Rockband for the first time. Yesterday took Locke to the dog park for a bit and I worked more on Evil Within. Meant to finish editing that game last night, but I got home around 9 and literally don't remember anything other than falling asleep on the couch and being vaguely pissed at Locke when I didn't let him go upstairs and he bit me in the face.

So it's Monday again and I'm still tired. I've got ALL the dodgeball tonight too so I won't be home until 10 or so. I really really really want to finish Evil Within. I tried so hard over the weekend. I have about an hour of editing left. I finished the first part (of three parts) of Chapter 15 and 14 is ready to go. Putting a little extra effort into my final Oddities video, so hopefully that will be enjoyed.

Resident Evil 7 is really high on my priority list for next series. It's fairly easy to edit, but I have to come up with a way to make our voices a little clearer. That one was tough to record sans headphones and playing on the TV. Normally when I record console games now I play directly in OBS vs routing it to an external display. The mic position is difficult too since it's located on the table in front of Shauna's couch, which we play on. Normally I actually record a separate audio track with our mic audio. The mic usually picks up game audio, but if I sync it right, it lines up with game recording and you can't tell the difference. If I don't line it up right (like when Evil Within's game audio desyncs) then you get a weird echo and sometimes I can't fix it due to what's being said at the time (it's hard to break up sentences we're speaking). We normally use Fraps to record PC games, but for the console you need something like OBS or PTBI to assist in running. For whatever reason, I can't get PTBI to work for me (which would be great cause then I could Fraps it), so I use OBS whose files don't tend to play well with Vegas (i.e. it chain-crashes Vegas and sometimes corrupts the entire project to the point where it will refuse to open). So I have to record everything with OBS, which means integrated, balanced sound and I THOUGHT I had it balanced well, but it seems like the game audio was still a bit on the loud side. Also I'm an idiot and the resolution got screwed up. Thankfully I can fix that easily.

I've always had issues making my voice loud enough in the majority of my LPs. I've never lived in a household alone, so I need to be mindful of how loud I'm being. I also get quieter when I'm tired. The mix sits about a foot away from me on my desk and I have the mic boost up to 100%, so that helps, but I still encounter issues when the game audio is too loud (sometimes it's fine until I hit a particularly loud fight or music sequence). This is something I have yet to perfect, and keep trying to fix.

2K

I hit 2000 subscribers a few days ago. I have most of the bits I need for my video, I just need to put them together. Been a busy week starting with another RE7 marathon (Shauna and I finished the game), Monday dodgeball (which I THOUGHT I was playing super well, but it turns out the other team wasn't so great and our best players weren't trying too hard...at least I got practice), Tuesday evening work, Wednesday was an unsuccessful attempt to bring a puppy to Night Writer (but Igpy was happy to meet him for a short while it seemed), Thursday was our real world alien RPG made up by Carlo (in which I got blasted in the face by a magma tank and used an alien device to command giant centipedes) and now today I have to work again in the evening and deal with people who ask me questions, ignore my answers and then ask someone else immediately after (and by people I mean one guy who is kind of an asshole).

It's a long weekend. I might ACTUALLY have some time to actually get shit done, even if it means staying up super late and just powering through some editing while little fluffy creatures are sleeping.

Uhhh...Oops?

It just...gave up randomly. I'd been working on it for awhile and then it's just like ugh, enough and slapped me in the face with this. Have to admit, this has never happened before.

FE: Heroes

I actually didn't know there was going to be a phone app game until it came out before the weekend. It's super watered down, but really, I couldn't have expected more. Still, I've played more of this then perhaps anything else on my phone ever, so...you win there, Fire Emblem Heroes.

But seriously, I really need to know. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOUR NECK LISSA? HOLY SHIT. Your neck should not be that tiny how does it hold up your ridiculously sized head and why are your eyes so soulless in your portraits is it because the life is being choked out of you by that lace my god your head is going to pop right off.

Also what's up with the drastic contrast in quality for portraits? And only for some of them? Arthur is an American cartoon character vs regular Fire Emblem avatars.

Also Jakob looks demonically possessed in all of his portraits and graphics (aside from his chibi map sprite). I do not have images of that at this time.

Overall, not a bad game. Good time waster if your out waiting for an appointment or waiting for your puppy to stop checking on your arm.

Speaking of puppies. He's teething.

It's kind of hard to see here, but he's trying to eat my backpack at work. He's quiet through the night though (i.e. not crying), so that's really all I can ask for. He is such a little floof ball. A floof ball with very sharp puppy death teeth.

Coming up fast on 2k subscribers. I'm something like 4 off. I need to put together a video, but I've been busy with puppy and otherwise lacking the motivation to do anything else. Been a bad few months for anxiety/depression. Haven't felt quite right since October or something. Puppy is helping, mostly to distract me and force me to get up at a reasonable hour, but I'll likely need to take some time to sort myself out. It's never going to go away forever, so just...got to manage.

Still working on the same things as last week as I really haven't done any video work at all. I fixed the resolution issues with the first segment of RE7 and that's about it. I promised Shauna I would post that asap, so I'll try to get that out first. The audio is decently balanced so all I need to do is add commentary and fix one staticky sound spike from when Shauna screamed.

Maybe for my 2K I'll do a massive video release (i.e. two videos from all of my current projects) in addition to a special video that I have yet to start. So I'd need 2 Dishonored 2, 2 PoE, 2 Evil Within, 2 Sonic 2006 and 2 RE7. I can do that right? I'm not forgetting anything right?

Right?

Getting a Puppy

Will be picking him up on Friday.

I haven't been posting many videos lately, and that hasn't really been because I don't have them. I am on segment 28/110 right now for PoE and I'm still not done the game, so, you can expect videos from that for awhile when I'm not overly lazy. It's not even that difficult to publish it's just...extra effort. Been working on a few side projects as well as preparing for puppy, so finding the extra motivation has been hard and I'm not exactly model of mental health these days.

I have two Sonic videos more or less done...just waiting for a certain clip to present itself. The session I'm editing is fairly short (about 2 and a half hours), but a lot of it is spent futzing around with the demonically possessed soccer ball.

Dishonored 2 is also more or less finished...just need to some minor edits as I mentioned before to cut down on time spent watching me get lost and confused.

Evil Within has three chapters left for me to edit. Three! I know chapter 15 is pretty short, so I think it's just 14 that will take up my time. Will post chapter 12 later today probably if I remember, but I'm not sure when we'll get home as I'm playing Carlo's zombie RPG thing at his house (we're playing as ourselves and what we would do in a zombie apocalypse setting in Calgary...so essentially I'm so dead).

RPG stuff is stagnant at the moment cause motivation. I need to work on some assets for Mesk (and myself). There's a couple elements of the interface that I'm annoyed with (particularly the formation screen, but I need to use Ruby to change that shit so...guess I'm going to learn some Ruby). I also need a number of custom assets so I'll get to work on that...eventually.

I like how "Blender of Disappointment" has become one of my saved tags.
