The Saga Continues

The Mac Saga continues as the sound and video breaks completely on this device. So I'm like, okay, I'll restart as a first step and see if that fixes it. Oh, it wants to do updates before I restart, okay maybe that will help too. Oh, I need to login to my apple store ID to do that...okay. Oh it wants me to update and reset my account cause...uh...security reasons...even though I literally did that a couple months ago. Fine, I have jumped through your hoops, I reset my account, used a password that hasn't been used in the last year, dug through my spam email to find the reset email and now I have a functioning Apple ID. Great. And then you spring it on me that the "apps are not linked to my Apple ID." Wat.

Apparently all the Apps are linked to the PERSONAL account of the person who owned this laptop last. Someone I can't really contact especially since they are likely in Denmark now (long story). And you can't change the account manually. So I'm like...okay FINE just restart the damn machine then.

Then it spends 20 minutes updating...something? I'm not sure what the hell it updated because when it was done I still had the same updates queued in the App store. Apparently upgrading to the new OS MIGHT (Google seems unsure) allow you to change the Apple ID Apps are linked to. Of course clicking that requires billing info etc. and I just don't feel like jumping through more hoops at the moment. So this will stay broken for the time being.

Also, I might have mentioned this before, but this is essentially the last chapter in the saga:

dr.schwa: all right mac, I opened a new finder window. Where’s the hard disk at? YOU LIE
dr.schwa: it is really hard to find how big my hard drive is
dr.schwa: on my mac
eme: hmmm
dr.schwa: guess mac users dont need to know this information
eme: i don't actually know where to go to find that on my laptop lol
eme: but i have a little program an ex showed me that measures that all for me lol
dr.schwa: christ in a hat. I needed to minimize everything, go to the desktop with finder and use the “go” option to find the computer and THERE is the HD
dr.schwa: 54GB
dr.schwa: is that…the size or how much I’m using...?
dr.schwa: how much I’m using
dr.schwa: god how hard is it that to say
dr.schwa: it just says “size”
dr.schwa: k this is a 250GB
eme: good job apple
dr.schwa: I think that was only 5 minutes, but I feel like a significant chunk of my life is now gone
dr.schwa: all the stuff I googled was useless

Basically I wanted to know how much hard drive space I have on this device...for logical reasons. It took me some time to figure out where to find that. The three methods (yes three different ones) that I found all didn't help. Sigh.

Results

Figured out what was causing the pain in my right side and it was the same thing that it always is. It's not life-threatening. I just get to sit around and wait for it to get better as always. Better than surgery. I can eat/exercise however I want again. Within reason. In a bad mood because of a fight with a family member. Because if it isn't the answer you wanted, it's obviously cancer.

Life is Strange video is prepared. It will be released this week.

Nick and I finished the base game of Trine 2. We're on to the DLC now.

Almost done editing all the original Gauntlet footage. We'll be continuing that soon unless Mesk and HKS want to drag me through more high level areas in Warframe full of death and despair and hilarity.

With holidays coming I'll likely have limited access to computers from the 23rd-26th. It's going to be busy. I will have uploads queued, however, if you're expecting videos.

I'm going to go grab a coffee and work on being less frustrated.

EDIT: Went for a walk at lunch and I'm in a bit better mood. However, mystery of the day...on our way back we counted 41 empty bread bags. Either a garbage bag full of them opened or someone was doing something crazy with a hell of a lot of bread. No matter what the story is...what does someone do with that much bread? Then Oliver suggested this.

Hard Drive Space

Was having issues sharing this with someone so I'll share it with all of you. This was my hard drive state about 2 weeks ago. It hasn't changed much other than my F and C drives have slightly more space.

Flavourless Mush

Now I know why the kiwis I bought were on sale. When sliced open, they are flavourless mush.

Four more days until I know more about what's causing me pain in my right side.

I'd make today a soundtrack Thursday, but I forgot my headphones at home. The other ones I have are mostly broken and hurt my ears.

I got past the first section of Fire Emblem Awakening on Lunatic mode (i.e. Chapter 11), sat through the forced romance cause I was neglecting my support and training for Chrom, and pushed forward into Chapter 12. Started the level and I wish I could be recording DS games because my reaction was priceless. You get taken right to the preparation menu with no cutscene so I'l like "okay, let's see what we're up against." Immediately around me I see 4 knights, 2 cavaliers and 1 paladin (which I didn't realize was a paladin until I started). I scrolled to the left and said "oh god" because there were 5 more horse dudes and more knights. Scroll up and started swearing said "oh god no" and saw that the whole map is just covered in knights and horse dudes. A good number of them are tier two. I look at the map clear requirements and see "Rout Enemy" and there's just this outraged cry of despair you hear from me and I see that it's 43 units vs my 13 units. I have 3 tier two units. THREE. Only TWO of my units can withstand an attack from that paladin. The rest can be one-shotted. I should see if I can grab a screen of this...anyway I quit to go level my dudes on risen (which are easy aside from the bosses which have 60 HP and do 51 damage -_-). I can literally rant about Fire Emblem for hours so I'll stop.

I'm still sad I missed out on the Fire Emblem Fates Special Edition. Currently my only option are the scalped ones on Amazon etc. selling for like...$300 which I'm not inclined to pay. That would be ridiculous considering other expenses.

I'm stuck on the plant level in Myst 3. Don't tell me what to do. I'm missing something stupid obvious. I know it.

I may work on Evil Within backwards as I want those files off the laptop and I have no where to put them.

Working on a special Life is Strange video that will be released next week. It's mostly done. Just need to fix a few areas.

Actively working on editing the rest of the SR4 footage, Gauntlet footage and one more ESO video. Actively recording Fire Emblem Path of Radiance. I need enough space to finish Gauntlet, SR4 and Dead Space 2. Evil Within, Bioshock Infinite and Murdered are the problem since they are full LPs still.

This week in the world of work: Tiger Telepathy, making fun of Facebook's code (though we learned it actually links back to a picture's URL when it scrapes the page not make a copy), excessive Christmas decorations in the other office that shares our building (including a movie theatre, stormtroopers, LEGO displays, Christmas trees, projectors etc.) and the one site I work with FINALLY renewed their security certificate.

I have a script for the first area of an RPG almost done.

I did not lose any laundry this week.

Nice Pancreas

These last few weeks have been quite the adventure in gigantic swings of good and bad luck. Thankfully whenever something bad happens there seems to be good luck in those bad things. Device for music breaks catastrophically > decides to randomly function again. Forget the laundry on top of my car and drive away > return to see nothing got run over. Need to leave my car in a parking lot for two days due to a medical emergency > doesn't get towed or broken into. Need to wait a total of 10 hours in a hospital waiting room to find out why I have stabbing pains in my chest only to find out they can't find anything wrong > there's nothing wrong with me and, I quote, "have a very nice pancreas."

I was even well enough to go to an adults only night at the science centre last night (despite lingering nausea), which was nice cause we got tickets to it over a month ago. Saw a show about Pluto that was apparently "too much science" for the guy next to us. Because I mean, who the hell wants to experience science in a science centre. It was entertaining to watch 18+ people playing with science displays intended for children (including full-grown adults climbing through the indoor playground...with a height limit of four feet), and flocking around a number of puppies and cats that one organization brought in. There were also snakes and spiders to pet (I passed...mostly cause the line for it was long) and a human-sized hungry hungry hippos.

So I should be able to upload more videos again starting tonight. I was a little over-dramatic the other evening as I was sitting on the bathroom floor at the time waiting for nausea to pass. I got some Fire Emblem levels on my DS done though so I suppose there's that. That desert level was really killing me for awhile. I was probably complaining about this in my last post.

Also, was really entertained by a dude who felt the need to tell me how I wasn't a very nice person on YouTube after I commented on a guy who was upset that I had the audacity to joke about Dungeon Siege instead of just playing it. I mean, I'm so lucky to have someone policing my niceness levels these days. I don't want to literally turn into Hitler. Maybe this fine moral guide will scroll down the page and scold the young gentlemen who called me a bitch and told me to "lick his butthole." I mean if he's so concerned about how nice I'm being, he should certainly be interested in telling this lovely individual to mind his language. That said, I suppose I got the brunt of it because I'm just a horrid little hellspawn. It's okay; we'll hug it out. Maybe it'll purge the meanness from me.

Blaze of Glory

That feel when you place a box of clothes on the top of your car and then forget to move it to the trunk, and then drive away with said box on the top of your car only to realize it five minutes down the road in a sudden, cold panic, returning to find it in the middle of a residential intersection. It's okay, only 3-4 cars full of people saw me scooping underwear up off the pavement in the middle of the road.

And then I get back into my car and this is playing on the radio: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MfmYCM4CS8o

I'm pretty sure this is the second time that song has been playing at an awkward time.

So now I'm in a mood for Westerns.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly - Watched this for the first time for a class in university actually.
Red Dead Redemption - Never actually played this one...though I saw a lot of hilarity courtesy of my brother. I think Mesk and HKS did some silly things with the horses in this game too.
The Great Silence - Was recommended.
Compilation - Spice it up for the last entry here.

The device I used to play music normally in my car died completely yesterday though it happened to be at close to full battery. It wouldn't turn on even after connecting it to a computer. Then of course when I was showing it to my brother it decided to work, so now it's...charging? This week has had massive spikes between good and bad luck. That and a slap on the wrist from my new doctor for failing to get my bloodwork done. Then she calls later and is all like "yeah and now you can get these done too while you're at it."

Started uploading Path of Radiance today if you're interested in watching me play the video game equivalent of a board game. I uh...tend to get exceptionally foul-mouthed when playing Fire Emblem games so that should be entertaining for some of you.

Decembrrrrrrrrr

Weather has cooled off here quite considerably, which has been GREAT for my cough. Not actually great. On the upside, I can actually breath/speak without coughing every five seconds so that's a plus. On the downside I've passed on my cold to some other people so...I'm sorry. Humidifiers though, been the best tool out of this entire ordeal. When the humidity in the house naturally sits around 35-38% and the air outside usually doesn't go above 50% at any given time, it's quite useful.

Anyway, aside from still waking up late, having a drippy ambiguous water leak over my and my coworker's desk and accidentally spraying coffee all over the coffee table (lol irony) this morning, things are going a lot better (again, I'm so sorry).

December is fast approaching and I'm excitedddd. Steam has a Black Friday sale or something going on because most of everything on my wishlist is on sale. This is bad for my wallet considering I have some significant purchases coming up in the next couple weeks in addition to Christmas. And then there's living costs...gas, food, housing...BUT ASIDE FROM THAT, I'm excited about a lot of video and creative work going on. December 1 I'll be posting some special videos that hopefully YouTube won't censor and I'll be planning (hopefully) a decent upload schedule for December to make up for the lack of uploads during the summer and fall.

Oh yeah and it's soundtrack Thursday.

Star Wars Old Republic - Cause Star Wars is a thing right now.
Bastion - Cause it's really good
Life is Strange Episode 5 - It still hurts

Porcelain Arms

I've managed to catch a rather nasty head cold. I was coughing so hard that I believe it aggravated another problem I have, so I'm in varying amounts of discomfort. The good news is I have now caught up on a number of things as I've had the time to do so...that is when I'm not working from home, sleeping or waking up in the middle of the night thinking one of my arms turned into a ceramic object.

I'm not joking. Whatever they put in nighttime neocitran is some interesting stuff because I woke up last night and had the most lethargic freakout when I thought that my arm and hand had turned bright white and transformed into porcelain. Just the one though cause I remember taking my pulse in that arm just to make sure it wasn't actually pottery. At some point logic or sleepiness won and I passed out again until morning. I may forego the neocitran tonight.

Murdered Soul Suspect Episodes 1 and 2 are now uploaded. I am well into the next two segments of it. I managed to power through 4+ hours of Gauntlet and now have 3 more episodes ready to upload. Right now I'm trying to remember where I stuck all the Evil Within stuff and whether or not I still need to transfer the Evil Within off the old laptop. Either way, I'm out of space for Myst 3, which is probably good because I shouldn't be recording that with half a brain and when I'm coughing every 5 seconds. How annoying.

Um, yeah so Gauntlet episodes coming soon and...more Murdered. I had some other plans, but I'm still having trouble remembering what's what so, I'll give another update when I'm feeling better.

Wat...

Today I have some tracks that I've already featured before...but it was a long time ago so I'm counting it.

Suckerpunch - Still one of my favourite movie soundtracks.
Guardians of the Galaxy - The version I had in my playlist got entirely muted because of one song. So here's a version with just that song muted. Crap I'm going to have the Pina Colada song stuck in my head.

Speaking of videos with copyright claims. I uploaded the exact same footage twice (one video is private and includes both LOTR and Incredibles from Extra Life while the other is split in two) and only got a copyright claim on one. The one that got the claim on it is the longer, private video. Wat. Whatever, no one's going to watch that version, but what did it claim you might ask? A 32 second clip of a song that was playing in the distant background that came from Fallout 4. Wat.

Wat.

Life is Strange Episode 4 - The track mixing in this version is pretty awful, but the quality otherwise is pretty good. I also love all the butthurt about the endings. People are upset that it wasn't a "happy" ending. While I like my happy endings sometimes, I don't want everything to be that way. Both endings had sadness in them, and in both instances Max learns/accepts something. If it had been perfect and wonderful I feel like that would have been a slap in the face and made the entire experience worthless. Tell me a good story and I'll take any ending.
Lord of the Rings, Fellowship of the Ring - Got to love a classic.
The Last Goodbye - Billy Boyd - Was a suggested video on LOTR FOTR.
Game of Thrones - Since Shauna and I have been watching it.

Played more SOMA with Shauna. I'm sad to say it's lost most of it's tension and horror due to a changing tone, but I don't mind the story and the atmosphere. It's a little heavy-handed with the symbolism and psychology, which makes it somewhat tiring. They seem to be dragging out one fairly simple theme out over the entire game. Whenever the monsters actually do show up, it is mildly frightening, but I don't get the terror that I had during the original Amnesia or Outlast. I'm not sure if that's what they were going for or not. It's like Amnesia (duh), mixed with Bioshock, mixed with Alien Isolation, mixed with Penumbra (also duh but kind of unfortunate).

I think the problem with it is everyone in this game is just so damn cheerful no matter what happens. There's no sense of isolation or loneliness. We had that at the beginning of the game when we didn't have a friend in our pocket, but now that we have her, it's like...well we aren't exactly alone are we? Even when we find out what happened to the world and our protagonist, there's no sense of urgency or self-preservation. There's just a little bit of a mystery of what's going on. I don't know. I don't hate the game, but it's certainly not anything mind-blowing. Maybe we'll be surprised.

Either way, well talk more about SOMA when we actually finish the game. I'm probably going to be pushing SOMA to the top of the list of our co-op LPS.

SOMA - Because it's a somewhat recent release.
Murdered: Soul Suspect - CAT.
Evil Within - I actually look forward to editing this. It's so awful.
Sherlock - This is the "I don't feel like editing anything else" project.
Bioshock Infinite - I should really just scrap this. The recordings are so messed up.

After Extra Life

All right I'm going to do a quick recap of the weekend here. I'm currently uploading the Twitch streams from the weekend. I might do a highlight reel from the games I played, but I will also be uploading the full streams...if it actually works. I don't think YouTube is happy with the length of some of these, even though I've seen 10 hour videos on YouTube. It just processes endlessly until it fails. I just spilt up one of the videos to see if that helps but...well we'll see. The Sonic one is live if you're interested in seeing me unintentionally kill Sonic in a lot of interesting ways.

I had to work on Saturday in the morning and afternoon, so Kathleen and her friend started off the day playing some Fallout 4. If you're interested in seeing any of her gameplay, you should be able to find the video for at least a couple days here: http://www.twitch.tv/missswat/profile

Anyway, I joined Kathleen after work, covered in sparkles and bits of that fake evergreen tree stuff because I was putting up Christmas decorations. Kathleen and I played some games from about 7:30pm-2am and then both uh...promptly passed out. Kathleen at least had an excuse as she was feeling pretty sick that day. Kudos to her for toughing it out so long. I just passed out because I have no willpower. If you watch to the end of the Incredibles stream, you'll see me falling asleep at the end. I actually lose consciousness for a couple seconds at the time, resulting in me taking unneeded damage/dying.

I tried streaming Transistor, but the computer I brought to Kathleen's didn't do so well in terms of Streaming and running games at the same time. So I gave up on that after about 30 mins of trying and switched to Gamecube games, which turned out a lot better as the Gamecube could run them while the computer streamed. Lord of the Rings, The Two Towers was the first game I played. It was...hilarious. I loved playing that game for awhile when the movies first came out. I don't remember their faces being so terrifying when converted to...whatever the hell I was looking at. Gimli in particular was...well you'll see. I switched to an Incredibles game after because I got mad. I managed to finish that entire game in about 3 hours. It was also quite hilarious. I plan to play this game co-op with Michael someday as for some reason, we've played it multiple times through together. Probably do to a lack of good owned co-op games.

I fell asleep after that and woke up at 7am. I played Sonic Mega Collection for a couple hours and then packed up. I had somewhere to be in the morning, so I left Kathleen's and headed out to that. Almost didn't go anywhere as my car wouldn't turn over initially. I hadn't left lights on or anything, so that was exceptionally concerning. I took a look at the battery and saw a boat-load of corrosion on the battery so I cleaned it off the best I could and the engine turned over when I tried again. I'm likely going to have to get that looked at before weather gets super cold. Anyhow, when I got home after, I streamed Transistor on a better computer to make up for the streaming failures of the previous night. I keep forgetting how much I enjoy playing Transistor. I managed to break the AI a little though in one of the bonus levels.

Kathleen played a lot of Fallout 4 and dabbled a bit in Final Fantasy 7 (one of her go-to games). I'll have to ask her if she played a lot of other stuff. I think she had something else running on her tablet at one point, but you should hear her ranting about FF7 characters in the background of my videos.

Overall she raised just under $500 this year. Not as much as previous years, but I'd like to congratulate her on pulling together that much on such short notice. Next year we're planning to advertise sooner, but every little bit counts, so thanks to everyone who donated!

In other news, I started playing some Myst 3 after getting it to work on the old laptop still running windows 7. Windows 8 baffles the 3rd and 4th instalment and the common factor appears to be anything running below directx 10, which both games do. I may continue to play/stream Transistor...because now I really want to play it.

Also decided that I want my December solo LP to be Shadow of Mordor. Because Lord of the Rings. This is providing I can finish Dead Space 2 before then...and have enough hard drive space to work with. So...I have work to do.

Honking Noises

This song played on the radio this morning and now it's stuck in my head. It won't stop. Now you're all going to suffer with me. Enjoy the honking noises.

So actual soundtrack Thursday...

COD Modern Warfare 2 - Played some of the co-op missions last night with Michael and I remembered how good the soundtrack is. I was going to go for the shorter one that I found but the sound quality is terrible. So here's 3 hours of high quality music instead.
Life is Strange Episode 3 - Still working my way through these tracks.
Myst IV - Always enjoyed the soundtracks in the Myst series.

Sorry for the lack of uploads. I'm really disorganized at the moment. I can't remember what I have prepared and what's currently sitting in a Vegas file waiting to be encoded or half-done or on Shauna's hard drive etc. I screwed up Trine 2 somehow, but I salvaged what I could of that. Either we skipped a chapter by accident or I missed encoding an entire segment that I now can't get back. Either way...more Trine 2 has been uploaded, but it skips ahead a bit.

I'm currently working on a script for an RPG that I intend to make. I have no idea if I have the skills or resources to accomplish what I want, but I'll find out sooner than later. This wouldn't be a short project, but it's something to do in my down time. Regardless, I'm almost done scripting the intro and first area. The writing is the easy part though. The real challenge will come with building this thing in RPG maker. Anything I can't find as a resource will have to be built/designed by myself.

Oh, and of course, Extra Life FOR REAL this weekend. Will be starting at 7pm Mountain Time (-7) if you want to watch me and Kathleen try to stay awake all night.

Extra Life Announcement 2015 (Also Soundtrack Thursday)

EDIT - Kathleen and I will be playing November 14/15 instead as we have work conflicts.

It's that time of year again, and while we aren't as on the ball as in previous years due to work (Extra Life is this weekend...) we're still going to be doing an all-day streaming event on November 8, 2015. Here is a jittery, spur-of-the-moment- awkward announcement video I did walking to my car yesterday after work: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DtrV8vCv7NU

It's like a really awkward found footage video. Oh wait, that's all found footage videos.

Kathleen and I will be gaming together and separately, playing a variety of things. I'll be bringing the old gaming laptop that may or may not die at the slightest provocation, my capture card and Gamecube, and of course, a lot of caffeine. General Delta and the rest of the LAG crew will be streaming with me off and on that day as well (likely early on and then later at night).

Games you'll likely see:
-Borderlands 2
-Left 4 Dead 2
-Fear 3
-Transistor (I'll be playing this solo)
-Mario Party (Gamecube)
-Lord of the Rings, The Two Towers (Gamecube)

Other suggestions welcome. I will even venture as far to play a horror game. I have a few to choose from.

Here's my soundtrack picks for the day.

Life is Strange Episode 2 - I really like the last song.
Witcher 3 - I was informed this is a good soundtrack, so I listened. I liked it.
Django Unchained - Was a suggested video on the side of Witcher 3
Kill Bill - Guess I'm on a Tarantino binge now.

PS - Holy balls this orange is sour. Why did you betray me orange?

PSS - THEY HAVE THE DUMPLING TRUCK OUTSIDE

PSSS - Also vegan shepard's pie isn't half bad.

PSSS - Grape and pumpkin kit kats are tasty. Not sure what to think about this fish almond snack.

PSSSS - This has been a weird food day. None of the above is related in any way...other than being consumed in the last 24 hours.

My Socks Keep Falling Off - Soundtrack Thursday Revival 2

Seriously, these things are awful. I'll pull them up and then they'll just slide off my foot in my boots. Every time I get up and walk they slide off my foot and get bunched up at my toes.

Battlestar Galactica - A throwback to another STT. A long time ago...
Mass Effect Trilogy - The person who posted this is "Filip Hrdlicka." I'm an immature POS and was giggling for a good few minutes. Also this was a 6 hour compilation so I mixed it up after awhile.
Life is Strange Episode 1 - Cause why not? Maybe I'll post one of these each week. (the first track with lyrics is weird to listen to knowing what happens).

I've got a decent video schedule lined up for November/December and holiday season. Not just LPs, but a bunch of music videos, some silly compilations and some unreleased multiplayer content. One thing I need to note is that YouTube's policies are changing with that YouTube Red thing. As a result, they are reviewing some of their copyright BS and now some of the videos I have currently posted will no longer be available in the United States including some older compilation videos. I will need to be very careful with music videos moving forward. Some of these I'm not going to change/take down unless my account copyright status is affected, but any videos that will no longer be viewable in the US will be uploaded to my personal public google drive folder. You can access them and other random videos with the link at the top of this page.

PS - I have had no reports of issues with that Google Drive link, but if you do have issues accessing it, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. Just personal message me on YouTube, hangouts, or leave a comment here and I will do what I can to fix it.

PSS - My office may be on Canadian news tomorrow night, or at least Alberta news. Not...for anything bad don't worry. I swear.

I SWEAR.

PSS - Kathleen and I will be playing for Extra Life on November 8 instead of November 7. I will post more updates when the time comes.

Soundtrack Thursday Revival

I just realized I'm working regular hours on a Thursday in an office again. I can revive soundtrack Thursday!

I totally forgot about it until about 11am today so I missed out on an opportunity there. I'll post what I listened to up until this point and continue with soundtrack Thursday afterwards.

Random Crap:
SAIL - Awolnation
Afraid - The Neighbourhood
Little Lion Man - Mumford and Sons
Weekly Epic Music 17 (GODZILLA)

STT:
Hard Corps Uprising - Playlist
Professor Layton and the Curious Village

And to finish off the day...

In other non-soundtrack related news:

Kathleen and I are doing Extra Life this year again on Nov. 7/8 (timing depends largely on Kathleen's work schedule). I may chat with her and suggest starting it on her behalf to try and raise money, but I will update you on that sometime next week.

In the meantime, here's her donation page: http://www.extra-life.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=donordrive.participant&participantID=141562

All proceeds going to the Alberta Children's Hospital.

Final Episode of Life is Strange

I can't sleep yet because of this game so I figured I might as well write about it. You can all laugh at me if you want, but the game made me cry. And I don't ever recall crying in a game before. Maybe feel a little sad or tear slightly, but this was like my heart just got ripped out and tenderized kind of sad. You have a choice at the end, and I think either would have been soul crushing in a way...but I may have actually chosen the MORE soul crushing way.

Jeez what do I even say about this game overall? I mean, aside from some exceptionally cheesy (and sometimes awkward) writing, the overall plot and voice acting were pretty stellar. They definitely go for the shock value each time as a cliff hanger, but they went from something so light-hearted and innocent in Episode 1 to extremely dark as fast as the end of Episode 2. And it JUST KEEPS GETTING WORSE. I liked the art style and gameplay all right. Sometimes some of the objects looked kind of messed up, but it was solid in the play and I didn't notice many graphical issues. A bit of Z fighting and some really strange frames in Episode 5 that I'll need to slow down (at one point I THINK Max warped out of the chair and back again in a transition for instance). Music was good...and deceivingly light and soothing. Game kept me engaged the entire time.

I just wasn't prepared for this at all. I knew what was coming, and I couldn't handle it. I truly recommend this game if you like choice-based games, if you highly value story, and if you want something to crush your emotions into a little ball before they get stomped into a smooth paste.

Episode 5 is going up shortly. All I'll say about it is that I was right. And I'm sorry that I was right.

One More Marathon Week

Not that I made it through last week's marathon in one piece. I crashed pretty hard over the weekend. Not sure what I had, but it basically sucked every ounce of energy I had. I literally spent one entire day reading and watching movies/tv. On that note, Kingsmen wasn't half-bad, though it ended on a...uh...super classy note. Then I went and watched some Rick and Morty so I suppose there was a theme to the evening.

Shauna will be happy to hear that I finished Summer Knight too so there's that.

I will have regular work hours, 9-5 (more or less) weekdays now, which means my schedule will be more consistent and I won't come home every day feeling like I got hit by three trucks, died and had to crawl my way out of hell, racing five demons back to my body for another go at this "life" thing. That's the theory anyway. Chances are I'll just end up buried in the mountain of writing and video work I need to catch up on. So we're switching from crawling to digging more or less.

Anyhow, uploads have continued. Recording continues. I should like...do a full update or something so there's some kind of illusion that business continues as usual. Complete with a load of giggling and screaming internally.

Currently recording:
-SOMA
-Planet Alcatraz
-Gauntlet
-Dead Space 2 (thinking of finishing this on Saturday if I have the drive space)
-Testament of Sherlock Holmes

Currently editing:
-Testament of Sherlock Holmes
-Murdered: Soul Suspect
-Gauntlet
-Bioshock Infinite (hahahaha the never-ending project)
-Evil Within (might get Mesk to cast over some of these segments or "key" segments)
-Some....special, unexpected footage intended for a new trailer (it's a surprise)
-Dungeon Siege (cause I keep forgetting I have this)

Recently finished:
-Awesome Possum (about 4 more episodes to go up)
-Tera footage (likely more to come in the future)
-Saint's Row 3 - all uploaded to LAG (but not all released yet)

So at least something is happening.

I have some initial thoughts on SOMA (we're about 3-4 hours in), but I may save those for another post as this one is already pretty long. In short, it's good, it's a lot like Amnesia games only...less terrifying and more sci-fi world-buildy computer apocalypse like. Yeah. The graphics are pretty neat and you can faff about with tons of physics objects (which have GREAT potential for silliness...but Shauna's keeping my SCIENCE in check, no worries).

Life is Strange Episode 5 next week. I'm not ready.

Zero Uploads

Hey, just wanted to write a post saying I'm still around and planning on resuming uploads soon. Checked the YouTube page today and realized I haven't uploaded anything since like...September 20. It's October 5 now. I completely forgot over the last week or so. Let me tell you what's been going on as far as I can remember.

Let's see...I quit my part time job. It was kind of a no-brainer as I only have one day off a week. I'm tired. I've been borderline sick for a week and a half cause I'm not resting enough to let my body recover. While I've enjoyed working there for the most part, I don't think that environment is for me. You have to work many hours to even have a chance at promotion, and even then you are competing with many other people across the city for those positions. At the same time, more hours aren't available as they'd rather just hire more part-timers and avoid full-timers whenever possible...probably for budget reasons. That or I'm just so used to other types of work that union work just baffles me. Regardless, I have some good stories from my three and a half months there. One of my favourites was the dude that walked up beside me, poked me on the shoulder and asked "are you real?" I told him "yeah," so he smiled and said "okay cool" and just wandered away. Took me about a minute to process that one.

Other than that bit of news, I've been working on some personal stuff, been sick, been recording and, oh yes, had to go to court as a witness. Oliver and I witnessed a bad car accident a couple months ago coming back from the new Mad Max movie. Dude decided to plead "not guilty" to reckless driving at first, but after the first hour and talking to the witnesses (i.e. me, Oliver and some other dude), he changed his plea to "guilty" and we could all go home. I get trying to get a better deal, but when you're going fast enough to nearly light your tires on fire and literally the only thing that saved you from rolling over and killing yourselves was a lamp post, I'd say that there was some speed involved. Either way, the guy is lucky to be alive. He was about one foot away from getting seriously hurt or killed. Anyhow, it was significantly better than my last visit to court as a witness. We'll leave it at that.

Started recording Planet Alcatraz. Yeah. It's...I...um...potatoes. Yes. Everything is potatoes and bad voice acting. It's really quite amazing. I am so confused. Meanwhile Mesk is just giggling in the background. Other than that, Shauna and I are starting SOMA today. I'll let you know how that goes. It's been a long time since we've played a genuinely scary game (for the right reasons), so this should be interesting.

Exile and Revelations

Both Myst 3 and 4 do not work on this computer no matter what I try. In addition, something seems to be wrong with my mic and I'm getting random BSODs. This bodes well.

My plan is to put my recordings/playthroughs of Myst 3 and 4 on hold until I can get the old computer up and running again, troubleshoot the mic and try to get rid of the files on the external that I'm 95% sure is causing the BSODs.

In the meantime I have the Journeyman Project games (well 2 and 3 since 1 has never worked on anything) as well as Grim Fandango, the rest of Dead Space 2 and the upcoming Life is Strange Episode 5 (release on October 20 as far as I heard). I finished Riven the other night. The ending still freaks me out. I still can't believe this game traumatized me as much as it did when I was a child.

I have almost processed all of Tera (one little segment to go) and I am continuing work on the never-ending influx of co-op LP stuff.

In other other news, I am likely quitting my part-time job to focus on my full-time so I actually have my weekends and evenings free. This will happen in the next 3-4 weeks. So. Almost there.

Macs

Can I just take a moment to express my frustrations in switching from a 100% PC user to needing to use a Mac for my work computer? Because it's really frustrating. You wouldn't think a slight change in hotkeys would change much, but not only did I need to look up everything, I can't sync the keyboard or mouse I was provided, the hotkeys are fairly unintuitive (instead of the ctrl key I have the cmd key which is way closer to the z, x, c, v making it harder to copy/paste and undo, and the refresh key isn't f5 meaning that I was just changing the brightness of my screen over and over when I tried to figure that out on my own. Also I can't connect my own mouse to the computer cause....reasons? I can't click by touching the touch pad. I can only "right click" by placing two fingers on the touchpad and clicking. Also I just tried to use the delete button and found out that there is no delete button. The power button is in the delete button's place. Muscle memory is going to make me turn off my computer over and over and over...

I need to look into connecting a regular keyboard and changing some keybindings. My poor PC brain can't comprehend this. In the meantime...it's going to be a slow day. And not because I'm lazy.

EDIT - Apparently the computer was pairing with a mouse halfway across the room while refusing to pair with the one in front of me. Easy fix at least cause the other one didn't belong to anyone. The USB mouse continues to not work. At all.

EDIT 2 - My computer thinks I'm in Copenhagen. Also the if I press shift + 3 I get £ symbols. Because as a Canadian I definitely use the £ more than the #. I think I know who owned this computer last...

EDIT 3 - Updating Excel upset the delicate balance and the mouse decided it didn't want to play nice anymore. It has since been replaced by a wired microsoft mouse. Which works. It doesn't like wireless Logitech ones apparently. The saga continues.

Nothing New

Nothing really to talk about, but I figured I'd make a short post to say I'm still here, but not getting stuff done.

There's lots of recordings that have been done and my drives are full, but I haven't done much video editing. I just have less time in my evenings to sit and dedicate to this since I need to be in to work every day at 8am except Sunday. So I need to go to sleep earlier, and late at night is when I traditionally do a lot of this stuff. I want to go through it all (especially the Evil Within and Gauntlet stuff), but I want to do other things more like trying to get some reading and writing done. That and catch up on some video watching.

I'm going to suddenly get a burst of productivity and flood you all with videos. But for now I'm just tired, grouchy and anti-social. Maybe next week I'll have a more exciting update for you.

Can't remember if I showed this to you Michael.

Turn the Crank

One of the levels in Evil Within was literally just turning cranks and fighting pyramid head ripoffs. We played 6 ish hours yesterday and we're still only 2/3 done. We have five more chapters and we STILL have no idea what's going on. It's hilarious and so very disheartening at the same time. If it's not cameras being shoved up our rear ends, or statues glued to crows, it's confusing plots and awful texturing. We'll get there some day.

Good news! I am now officially a fulltime employee at the place I was doing contract work for! This means I might be able to drop some of the other things I'm doing and have more time for faffing about in games and video production. Likely I will work at the library job I have as well for a time and see if it will work for me. If not and I end up a nervous wreck again, I will have a clear answer.

Almost complete Awesome Possum. I'm on the final gauntlet run of bosses. I'm stuck on the loser with the skates, monkey wrench and kabuki mask. I think he's supposed to be a hockey player? Regardless, he's annoying because he reads input and there's no corner I can wedge him in to kill him in seconds. I started working on a Tera video. It's actually almost done, I just need to do final edits and an encode. I just want to get the footage off my drives as it has been sitting there for months. Oh and people finally convinced me to start Mass Effect. I made an extremely pissed off Shepard with the most tragic backstory I could muster. I was giggling cause all I could think of was Calhoun from Wreck It Ralph.

Going to try and get more Gauntlet time in this weekend. Mesk and HKS have been complaining that I'm constantly dead, so it may be time to pick this back up. That or play more Guild Wars. I'll leave that up to them.

Lastly, Delta was wanting to play some games this weekend. I'll likely be joining in a stream of theirs at some point (late Friday night for me is the most likely). I will regret it in the morning, but sacrifices must be made (I work an 8 hour shift starting at 9am ughhhhhh).

Full Moon?

I had a really weird weekend is all I can really say. It was fine up until Saturday afternoon (aside from everyone being excessively cheerful...which was strange on its own). It all started when I was cleaning up one of the tables at work. Suddenly someone comes up behind me, leans in and just says "smile." I look up and it's one of the dudes that hangs out on my floor every weeked and watches DVDs. I just stare at him for a second like...really? And he says it again. So I give him this half-assed smile and walk away cause I suddenly have the urge to punch him in the face and I don't want to give him any of my words.

Backstory: I don't work in the best part of town. There are genuinely creepy, angry and unstable people around. My way to avoid being the target of said creepiness is to look as pissed off as possible. I want to be left alone while I work, because it isn't my job to help out with customer service. I have been attacked before at other jobs, so I just don't want any part of this.

So I continue to work because I want none of that nonsense. I turn the corner and he's standing there waiting at the elevator gesturing at me again to smile. I shake my head at him and disappear, then WAIT until he's gone before I go and tell Shauna about it. This is kind of a big deal because I can't just tell him to bugger off because I work there. And he knows it. He wouldn't have told a stranger that, or even one of the older, meaner looking people working with me and that pisses me off. I want to be an anti-social grump. Leave me alone.

Sure he might have just been trying to be nice or something, but seriously, I have a right to be miserable. Even if I am a perfectly happy, untroubled young lady, I can still be as grumpy as I want with out unsolicited suggestions from the guy who once loudly proclaimed to his friend for the whole floor to hear that he was "drunk and horny." I may pretend to be an oblivious, sour individual at work, but believe me, I see and hear EVERYTHING. At least if he keeps bothering me on future days I have grounds to report him and get him kicked out. That makes me happy.

So then the rest of the day is just full of weird crap like the ominous pigeons, the man who walked across the street balancing his skateboard on his hand while maintaining fierce eye-contact with the driver, the lady who kept scowling at me as though I had personally offended her by sitting in a seat halfway across the bus, the strange barista who was borderline insulting Shauna, the random dude at the grocery store who started ranting about Costco discounts and then screamed "WHOOO DISCOUNTS" at us in another aisle, me getting a text about the son of a guy my family knows having his house blown up, the wedding party taking their pictures in front of the sketchy pawn shops downtown, the statues on the rat and the crow in Evil Within, and those children that appeared out of nowhere behind us on the street and started dancing around.

Then I had issues with my computers. So I was using Oliver's laptop to try and chat on Vent and it kept dropping and reconnecting over and over. Went to get a second monitor yesterday and test it with the old computer, which decided it didn't want to work. In all fairness, it's got hobbled-together hardware, hasn't been used in months and may have been damaged in the move, but it wouldn't boot. So that was disappointing. Good news is if I can make some extra room on my desk, I can have duel monitors. What I really wanted it for was for cross-referencing writing a lot quicker as I'm getting close to finishing WMRR.

Then there's a bunch of drama with friends and family, and I might be getting fulltime at my one job and I am just tired again. Good news is that my back is finally at the point where I can do strengthening exercises and I can drop physio soon.

Anyway I'm disappointed about the computer. I was going to use it (as slow as it is) to double video productions so I can catch up on all my projects. I have only small pockets of time to work on this stuff now. According to Mesk and HKS I should just quit everything and become a YouTube sensation. They sound like my Grade 11 social studies teacher who was trying to get us to run away to California and pick oranges for a living. I do miss it though. Playing video games and editing videos all day doesn't sound like a bad gig.

My problem is I've been playing through the Myst series. I have no idea if I'll ever release it, but I'm too invested in that right now to complete my other projects. And I really need to complete the other projects.

Everything is on Fire

The sun is a lovely shade of blood red today. Time to ring in the apocalypse with some coffee, cookies and my return from the Place of Spiders (oh, and the Chicken Dance as is tradition with apocalypses).

Yeah so my city is covered in smoke from the forest fires in Washington today. Heard it's pretty bad down there at the moment, so hope any readers living there are safe from the fires. I couldn't see downtown from the beltline today driving to work, so the air quality is pretty bad. I may add a picture later.

I am back home. I spent a lot of yesterday catching up on video work. I have a small segment of Saint's Row 3 left to go through, but I am essentially done that series. It's nice to have that 600GB back. I finished some work on Testament of Sherlock, but mostly it was just preparing clips for Mesk, who said he would do a in-depth analysis cast of the game for me. That should be fairly amusing. I also continued some work on Tera and the Dungeon Siege 1 Revival series (which I haven't continued since like...May or June).

I need to finish recording Dead Space 2, Awesome Possum, Gauntlet (with Mesk, HKS and Wibod), Half Life Episode 2 and Riven (will get back to you on this). Guild Wars 1 and Tera need attention, but recording on those are on hold, I think until Mesk and HKS are done Divinity OS due to hard drive space limitations on their end. Not to say my end is any better what with my 600GB free on my flaky external hard drive.

Oh yeah I still haven't finished Fire Emblem either...

I don't really have an upload schedule worked out yet as I'm still trying to figure out wtf I was doing before I left (nothing productive in the video world I'm guessing). So enjoy the random crap I throw at you for the next week. Hopefully by the weekend I'll have something resembling a regular upload schedule again.

PS - Yesterday I was talking with Mesk, HKS and Shauna and suddenly I'm the proud owner of SOMA and Planet Alcatraz, and apparently I'm LPing both. I'm not exactly sure what happened.

In the Boonies

I will be away for the week with limited access to internet, so you may see me around and you may not. I can access many things from my phone, but I anticipate a lot of sleeping and reading for the next 7 days.

I have...very little prepared for video this week. I am going to start post video from the Gauntlet run I did with Nick on normal difficulty. You can use this as a comparison for when I post the Gauntlet footage with Mesk, HKS and Wibod later on on the hardest difficulty.

Awesome Possum videos are prepared, so I decided to throw those up earlier than I anticipated. I am still not finished the game. I'm still stuck. In the arctic. I hate that abomination of nature.

I'll try to have more Testament of Sherlock Holmes ready for this week as well. In the meantime, I have some more beautiful screenshots for you. Game of the year 10/10.

This time the theme is broken particles and effects and some disturbing guards. What do I mean by this? WELL LET'S TAKE A LOOK.

Some of these are just random in the game...and some are in CUTSCENES.

Now here's some nightmare fuel for you:

My favourites are always Watson though.

And of course the dead-eyed stares of some of the characters and Sherlock, who isn't taking any of your shit.

Last but not least, I'll leave you all with a creepy-ass smile.

HAPPY SLEEPING =D

It Stopped Raining

And hailing. Supposed to get more though. Point is my car now looks like a red golf ball.

We had two massive hail storms this week. Shredded trees, damaged property etc. Our neighbours had one of their windows smashed by some grape size hail. One of our windows are now cracked. Also loved all the photos from the newspaper here of all the cars happily ploughing through 3 foot deep water. If you look closely at this one lady in her jeep she's got this massive silly grin on her face. Meanwhile the person behind her is about 3 inches away from flooding their engine. I have a video of the storm from downtown Calgary uploaded if any of you are curious.

I'm going to try and get some video work done tonight. With my mini vacation and other projects I'm trying desperately to finish, I haven't worked on anything since...uh...Tuesday last week. Heh. I promise regular uploads will start again soon.

Dead Space 2 video tonight. Next couple days will be the rest of Contrast and anything else I can crank out. I have many plans, but no time for execution. I am terribly sorry.

One More Thing

Forgot to post about it yesterday, but I figured I'd make a new one rather than add an edit. I will be leaving on Friday for a couple days, so I won't be around to for video uploads etc. I may queue some up and just post from my phone, but that all depends on how good reception is out in the boonies.

Life is Strange is fully uploaded. Don't watch part 6 unless you want to see me suffer at the hands of the phone password. The rest is pretty intense though, so be prepared.

I will queue up some Contrast, Dead Space 2 and maybe (if I get it done between editing papers and making ski videos) more of those Sherlock videos. I may have some other videos hidden in the depths that I can throw up in the meantime. I'll have to take a peek.

When I get back, I'll be working through the never-ending back log of video. Awesome Possum may start going up early even though I'm not done it. I'm stuck. In the arctic. With robot dogs. And tears. I supplied the latter.

Life is Strange Episode 4

Yeah so I marathoned Episode 4 last night and you are in for way more than five episodes this time. That said, a good portion of it was spent at the deduction board trying to figure out this dude's cellphone password, but that's besides the point. They really packed the content into this episode this time. They also packed in a lot of heavy decisions...especially from the get-go. Anyone who has been playing or watching thus far knows how Episode 3 ended and they waste no time hopping right into those consequences.

I won't ruin it for anyone, but the ending of this Episode is pretty messed up. I mean, everything that has happened so far has been hinting that something like this was going to happen but...holy crap. It's not even on the level of the end of Episode 2. It goes beyond that to the point where I was mildly in shock. Jeez I can't even think of anything else to say without ruining everything so uh, episodes are going up as of today. First two are up at the time of this post. The rest will be later when I get home from work.

Anyway, half regretting staying up and playing that as I got like...2 hours of sleep, but at the same time, so worth it.

Okay guys. The time has come. A 4 day working, paper editing, ski video making, house cleaning marathon is a go. I may not survive this. Should the worst happen, please play Highway to Hell at my funeral. That or the most obnoxious bag pipes you can find. I want to go out trolling.

PS - Okay I will say this. Still on my mind. Been bothering me since I saw it in game. Why, were they having the party in the pool? I mean, yeah, great idea in principle, but have any of you actually been to an indoor pool? The sound quality in there is NOT optimal. Everything would echo so much and you have a massive amount of electronics and wires RIGHT NEXT TO WATER. Kristy will be disappointed. The people in this game are not making good choices.

PSS - Seriously I don't care where or how, but guys, go experience Episode 4

PSSS - Seriously.

EDIT - Not that anyone is too interested, but went to see someone about my back again and the guy was unable to adjust it, so going to get an x-ray and see if my scoliosis is worse (always had it, but it's never been serious). I have hot pink tape all over my back again. Fabelhaft.

Twisted

My spine that is. One of the sections of my spine was slightly twisted, so I had a guy untwist it. Didn't really hurt at the time, but it's pretty sore today.

Mostly just posting to say that Bioshock 2 is fully uploaded. I am rapidly running out of finished material to post. I realistically have Contrast, a few more episodes of Dead Space 2, half (I sincerely hope it's half) of Awesome Possum and like up to level 7 of Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance prepared.  don't even think I know where that Fire Emblem stuff is actually...I'm going to have to go digging when I get home.

Now back to my crummy, but totally self-inflicted morning full of moths in the bathtub, missing trains by a minute, losing the squishy bit of my headphones and getting to work early for a meeting just to find out that there's no meeting today. But on the bright side I get to email this dude again because he obviously didn't read the other two emails I sent. Because reading is hard.

I'm a Genius

Also I'm sarcastic.

I wrecked my back. It has been sore for the past few weeks and last night I was super intelligent and played badminton knowing it was really bad. The games were good at least. Anyway, I now have tingling nerve pain in my leg and foot in addition to walking around like I'm 80 years old. I'm going to get it checked out today and maybe get an x-ray? I have no idea what the process here is now. All I know is physio is expensive and that's probably going to be recommended. Sigh.

Lifting books and pushing carts probably doesn't help matters. Working on a new floor at the library to test it out. It's a lot noisier and has some interesting rules, but it seems like it'll go all right. I have some good people working with me, so there's that. Still, working tomorrow will be interesting with my back...

So Far Cry 3 is completely done now and Bioshock 2 is like 4 episodes from being done. Dead Space 2 isn't fully recorded yet, but I plan to do that soon. Awesome Possum is also being recorded. Accidentally messed up my save state though. I just cheated to get me back to that level (thank god that option exists), cause there's no way in hell I'm ever playing through this game more than once. Mesk is, naturally, enjoying my torment.

Future solo projects are something I can finally discuss now! Skyrim Dawnguard DLC is definitely high on the list. Then I may do some modded Skyrim videos. Who knows? It's still pretty vanilla for the purpose of the LP. I have Contrast sitting on my drives, waiting to be posted. It is very short so that would be good to tide you all over. Life Is Strange Episode 4 is coming soon so there will be five to six episodes of that. And ugh, I should just finally finish Half Life Episode 2. I've put it off for far too long.

Co-op projects are still sitting on my hard drives gathering dust. I will not speak of these until I actually do something productive.

Evil Within is Awful

That is all.

Okay that's not all. It's really that bad. Poor Shauna had such high hopes for the game. I think she was expecting scary and instead we got blurry graphics, poor performance, terrible controls and all around bad gameplay. All it has going for it at this point is a few intuitive game mechanics. I think this is the first game we have changed the difficulty on to make it easier. And that's saying something when we played all of Alien Isolation on HARD.

I actually had to take a break from fighting the butcher boss. He's the one with the chainsaw in the barn on chapter 3. I was so angry and stressed out it mixed with my upset stomach and the heat, and I literally ended up needing a 10 minute break from the game as I sat on Shauna's couch with a bag of frozen hashbrowns on my face. So we have now coined the term "Hashbrowns-on-face bad" to describe a game. Might just shorten that to "hashbrown bad," but that would suggest that hashbrowns are anything but delicious.

Before this boss you have to wander around this town area using the "stealth" mode because your weapons and fighting skills are shit. You can't see half the traps. You can't see half of everything. We had to reduce the resolution and graphics quality just to get the game to run at 25-30fps. Anything higher than the reduced settings gives us 10-11fps. This is all BEFORE Fraps is a factor. Actually we had so many issues even getting the game to run at all. I had to upgrade drivers, turn off settings, edit some files and FINALLY it ran. Even before we reduced the graphics quality, the character moves in this lurching, drunken gait. We had to turn off motion blur because we were getting nauseous. It was even bad during the cinematics, which feature all these plastic looking people.

Then the controls. After playing a good 2-3 hours last night, I finally got the controls to work in my favour, but seriously, I keep hammering the R3 button to crouch or run because muscle memory dictates it. I keep accidentally turning on my ass light and alerting all the zombie dudes because it's bound to L3. I pull out my gun to shoot, but then I want to switch to my fists to pummel a guy and end up shooting with my melee button because the melee button (R2) switches when you have a gun out (becomes Y...as in WHY DOES IT DO THIS?) and then L2 lets you aim and shoot, but the hip fire ends up being more accurate half the time. The inventory system lets you bind items to the D pad (figured that out last night), which helped greatly (though not with the melee issue) and sometimes when you try to use a pistol you whip out your crossbow and UGH. Then you're sprinting away from dudes, have a limited sprint, and when you run out you stand in place and catch your breath for three seconds which is long enough for a zombie to catch up and ram a pickaxe up your ass.

Realism. It's great. Except when it's not. IF the game had ways to compensate for the stamina feature, the slow-down on the stairs, the jittery and ineffective crouch system (seriously, you'll exit stealth randomly after performing certain actions), the lurching walk/run and the terrible camera (IF!), then yes, maybe we could work with this. But it doesn't. Combat is just as cumbersome (as mentioned above), the enemies arbitrarily see you when you sneak up on them, the enemies suddenly have weapons like shotguns (actually one cool aspect of the game I liked is that the AI will actually find and pick up weapons, so you often need to sneak or get to those weapons first) and they all do shit tons of damage. The traps are BS. I like the variety and they do catch me off guard and they are useful for killing unsuspecting enemies as you can lead them through trap areas, but disarming is awful. The bombs for instance. I assumed you'd get multiple turns of the needle to try and land the blue area. Nope. You get one shot to land it and if not, you explode when the needle hits the 12 0' clock position. Which, is incidentally hilarious as when you die to explosions your body just falls apart like a bloody, gooey mannequin. Your head just comically rolls off. Another great one (and quite satisfying), is when you land a headshot with a melee weapon and the zombie's head explodes you are showered with radioactive pink jam.

So yeah. Melee with weapons, when it works, is great. AI going for weapons is great. Needing to burn bodies and make sure things stay dead is great (though you can only carry FIVE MATCHES at the beginning of the game...and don't ask about where Shauna thinks he stores them). Having effects like fire and melee damage carry to other enemies and do splash damage is great. The variety of traps is cool. Everything else is disgusting. I'm to angry while playing to even pay attention to the atmosphere (or lack of) or the story while playing. All I know is that some detective dude was investigating an asylum and there's this undead ripoff Assassin's Creed assassin running around trying to be creepy, murdering random dudes and sticking knives in things and suddenly we're getting in car crashes and falling off cliffs and there's this mental patient that's important for some reason and an upgrade area with a doctor lady and...just what?

Man I'm sorry for all the typos you're going to find in there. That rant wasn't supposed to happen. Honestly, I'm more angry with this game than Awesome Possum. Yeah. You heard right. At least I expect that game to be awful. I expect the anger. When I need to run around for 30 mins trying to kill a guy cause I ran out of ammo and my only option is a spike trap (which was hard to time because Butcher McIdiot Face can't make up his mind whether he wants to get lost and confused or run at us at light speed) and need to stop to put frozen hashbrowns on my face, you know there's a problem.

Less Angry and Exhausted

Yeah I'm actually not angry about anything this week. All is well now that I have finished those edits and I can't remember what else I was angry about. In other news, my memory is still terrible. I keep saying that will get better when I'm less busy, but either I'm never less busy or my memory is just permanently awful. Okay it's all right in some respects. Sure I can't remember my appointments or meetings, but I can remember every line of Arrogant Worm's History is Made by Stupid People and silly flash videos I watched ten years ago. TOTALLY USEFUL.

I can't even remember why I started this post. God.

Updates I suppose. Bioshock 2 and Far Cry 3 co-op are almost complete. I have a handful of video left for both of them. The Far Cry 3 stuff is particularly aggravating as Michael and I spent a long time suffering at the hands of that final mission. Bioshock 2 is equally aggravating and amusing. I would highly recommend watching the last couple of videos I posted (Suddenly We're in Doom) as there is some really messed up stuff in it. Dead Space 2 will continue for awhile (especially since I haven't even finished recording it yet). Life is Strange Episode 4 is supposed to be out soon-ish. I thought it was actually out this past week. I might do something with Banished as I have been playing that quite a bit the last few days.

I think Delta has slowly been posting the Saint's Row 3 stuff I gave him, but it's going to run out fairly soon. I think more Tera is in order in the near future as well. Guild Wars 1 is going to sit around awhile longer. I ran Gauntlet on Normal with Nick. Not sure if/when I'll post those recordings, though there was a lot of silliness (mostly involving me getting him killed). We'll be running Trine 2 in the near future. Murdered Soul Suspect and Bioshock Infinite are on the queue for LPs with Shauna, but I'm likely to produce more Sherlock video first.

Also got to love the music some company arbitrarily decided to block a video with music from Assassin's Creed 4 in my country after having it sitting there for at least two years with no ramifications. Took me about five seconds to find another version (extended which is even better). Nah nah.

Nothing like telling someone they can't have something. Only makes them want it more.

I still can't get over how much this bothers me. Companies fighting over sound or visual content in my LPs, which is fair use at this point in time, for SCRAPS. Apparently a few cents a month at most is worth fighting for. And I'm the kind of person who will openly admit to using other people's music or content in my videos and accept those claims on my videos...if it's something that was under my control. If it's built into a game and I have no control over what plays when, then I don't think you should be filing claims on my content. Don't give me the line "oh well you can turn the music off in game then." No. Just no. Keep fighting over that petty cash gentlemen.

Angry and Exhausted

And hot and bothered.

These past two weeks haven't been bad really, but I've been struggling a lot with my mood, the heat, trying to manage three jobs (four if you count the editing I've been trying to do periodically) and moving. I have had little time for personal projects, which is unfortunate because I really need them to stay relaxed/sane. So I will tell you what I've been telling everyone the last month: I'm really sorry, but I've been insanely busy.

I've been postponing and putting off all co-op things and have been cancelling on a lot of people. The only games I've been playing with anyone is trying out Gauntlet on an easier level with Nick just to try it, and that has mainly just been stress relief. It mostly consists of me trying to get Nick killed and ending up killing myself in the process. That and stealing all the gold cause I'm certainly not winning in kills.

Dead Space 2 is the other recording I've been doing, but I haven't had the time, energy or willpower to tackle anything else. So I am truly sorry for that (mainly apologizing to Voyeur, Shauna, Mesk, HKS and Delta here). Things should hopefully stabilize next week (though I said that about this week).

Um yeah I'd also love to get back into my reading, writing and trying to learn how to code. That would be great.

This is where my brain is at.

You're welcome.

Quiet

So. I have moved. I'm basically just putting stuff away at this point, but that is why there were no videos uploaded over the weekend. I was too tired and busy to sort that all out. I'm almost settled (still a lot of work to do), but video releases should continue today.

I have some Far Cry 3 co-op and more Bioshock 2 for you. I will be switching things up fairly soon (so if you're not interested or sick of those, new stuff will be coming once I am in a good place).

I am officially LPing Dead Space 2 right now and I will be uploading that in the near future. I think I might actually like it better than the first game in some respects. The combat is a lot more responsive (less input latency, faster movements etc.), but the enemies seem to have HUGE attacks. In some cases if you are just in their general proximity, they will injure you, even if they just nudge you gently. And it's dark. Holy crap it's dark. I have had multiple instances where I can't tell wtf is going on and die because I can't see anything but the glowy bits on my back. Also the game has no tension. Any apprehension/fear that the environment generated in the first game just...doesn't exist here. There's some creepy bits, but it's not scary. There are many jump scares though. And some got me.

Only other thing I need to worry about now is sound proofing. My new location is...noisy. There is a lot of reverb caused by the room I'm in. In addition, the walls are fairly thick, but the doors are REALLY THIN. This is a problem when you have other people living with you because we have slightly different sleep schedules and you can hear EVERYTHING through the doors. I'm looking to invest in some materials to reduce noise from the door (both noise I make...like when I record, and noise from anyone outside). I will see how this goes. I'll come up with something.

On the bright side...THERE ARE NO CROWS. Just bees and spiders and song birds and magpies.

Month of Solo LPs

While not 100% true, this month will likely finish with mostly solo LP videos being uploaded. I only have Far Cry 3 videos prepared for co-op, though I have a good start on more Tera videos. The biggest barrier I have there is how I want to handle Bastion of Lok, because we ran it a few times in various levels of completion. I might just pull clips from the one session and then post an entire run. We'll see. I expect Guild Wars 1 will be a July project for me. Saints Row 3 is just sitting on my drives because I wanted to work on other projects (plus Delta has enough videos to tide him over for awhile). Shauna and I keep trying to tackle Evil Within, but we still only have about an hour of that recorded. It's just...vomit educing. One day I'll finish Bioshock Infinite. One day. Good news is I have some more Sherlock videos to giggle through. I'm excited for more broken animations in that regard.

Anyway, none of this is actually prepared. It's just taking up space.

Speaking of space...I started playing Dead Space 2. Because, you know, I have so much time on my hands. It's actually not too bad. I can put in like, an hour of gameplay at at a time and it actually doesn't take up too much hard drive space. AND YES, I'M USING STASIS. To answer the question I know at least two of you have. I dedicated power nodes to it and everything. Be proud of me.

War for the Overworld is finished. I just have some multiplayer games with Nick if people are interested. There's a lot of giggling and shit-talking.

Lastly I'm just going to keep slogging through the Bioshock 2 stuff. As much as the game irritated me, there was some pretty silly stuff that happened during that series. Watching again, I might actually consider it one of the more randomly funny LPs I've done. This really wasn't because of me or my commentary...things just broke so astronomically. Guess the pain was worth my time.

Update?

I can't remember if I actually wrote up a post last week. I had a pretty busy week...and I know I say that a lot but I REALLY had a busy week last week.

So a lot happened in the last week and I actually can't remember most of it because my memory is maxed out. I've literally been writing everything down/recording it electronically, because if I don't, I just forget. Also it is ridiculously hot here. It was 27 degrees at 9am this morning. God help me.

I'm going to be moving over the course of the next month. It won't be immediate, but I'm starting to transport things as of today. The computer will be one of the last things I take, so I should be able to continue video work and recording when time permits. I'm going to have to ask you to be patient with uploads, streams etc. as I have no idea what my time is going to be like. This should all be sorted out and settled by the time July hits.

The end of last week and the weekend for me consisted of driving people everywhere, driving myself everywhere, dodgeball semi-final, all-day dodgeball tournament, board games, a five hour hike up a mountain (HOLY CRAP HOW DO SO MANY FOREST SPIDERS EXIST?), a neighbour's birthday, D&D Evil campaign and a lot of other things I can't remember. I'm also pretty exhausted as my body is unhappy about all the climbing and jumping and I've got bruises everywhere from being pelted with large, rubber balls and driving my legs into rocks and tree branches. Oh and falling down the stairs at the end of it all. That was an adventure.

Craziest thing was at that neighbour's birthday thing last night they had two big dogs there. One was resting under the table, decided it was a good idea to suddenly launch himself off the deck and he took the umbrella stand with him. Problem was there was an umbrella in said umbrella stand. It came crashing down on Oliver and myself and then smashed the glass table. I have never seen so much broken glass in my life. Made a spectacular noise though. A bunch of drinking glasses and a plate were broken as well (the bottles and my phone sitting on the table survived). So thankfully there was a good number of us there to help clean up, but we were picking glass out of the grass and shoveling the dirt under the deck for a good hour. We wanted to make sure no paws got glass in them though. Then later that night I fell down the last couple of stairs because I thought it was a good idea to go get my headphones in the dark. I know I'm exhausted today from the weekend cause I cracked my head on the door of my car and spilled hot water on my hand.

I'M IN GREAT SHAPE =DDDDDDD

I hope to finish up the Saints Row 3 video this week as well as what I have recorded of the new Dungeon Siege series I'm doing. Place of spiders is coming, but not until after my disgusting failure. Yeah. I'm going to snag the rest of the Sherlock Holmes videos from Shauna next Sunday so maybe expect some of those next week. I want to finish up the Tera video I have so I can move on to Guild Wars 1. Those are my priorities. Oh and War for the Overworld. I have like 2 missions left. I should do that.

As for uploads, I really only have Bioshock 2 and Farcry 3 content at the moment. I can't remember off hand if I have anything else to add to that/that I have prepared. I probably do. I still have Contrast to post, but it is short and I want to save it for emergencies (i.e. I have nothing else to post). So I'll get back to you on that.

EDIT - In terms of recording, I'll likely be playing Gauntlet with Mesk, HKS and Wibod in the near(ish) future. I will be starting the Skyrim Dawnguard DLC on Legendary (with a level 37-40 character) soon. Tera and Guild Wars 1 recordings will resume when people have time/aren't sleeping (recording has been delayed mostly because of me). Shauna wants to continue Evil Within (even though I'm not too interested in the game after spending a good hour jumping through hoops to get it to work and STILL have it perform poorly). So we'll likely do more of that too.

Slowly Getting There

The subs have been teasing me the past few days. Jumped from 990 to 998 super fast, and then I lost three, and then I gained two, and now it's just sitting there. Regardless, I have my content ready once I'm safely over the 1000 mark. I could lose some at that point I guess, but meh. Good enough for me.

I also have another random video I'd like to post in the next couple days. I may still edit it up a bit, but I'm rather proud of it for a video I made over the span of a day and a half on a whim.

Since I've crammed too much into my head and don't know what I'm doing anymore. I've been creating lists everywhere to do the remembering for me. My poor brain.

Current LPs and videos being released:
Among the Sleep, Tag-Team - almost done (it's like 6 episodes total)
Bioshock 2 - there's a lot of this left
Farcry 3, co-op - LP is finished as of a couple days ago. There's still quite a bit left
Tera - I don't have any more episodes prepared, but some Bastion of Lok is coming up (likely a couple clip shows and then an entire run or two of it)

I think that's it. Yeahhhh must be. Also I've been finding a lot of random unreleased stuff...so it's either being thrown on YT whenever I find them, or on the public drive. Unless I think I've released them and I actually haven't and wonder why you are all looking at me strangely. That's also a very likely possibility.

Strange is Life

Yeah so I meant to play Life is Strange Episode 3 after midnight on its release. I'm a genius and thought it was midnight this evening and not last evening at midnight. And it's very confusing to talk about because technically midnight is a new day, so it WAS released midnight Tuesday, but I still thought it was later today. Point is, I'll be pretending it was actually released tonight and I'll play it through when I get home from work at 11pm.

My 1000 subscriber mark is approaching. It's really just an arbitrary number as I'm pretty sure only 10 of those people are actively watching my videos. The rest I'm sure are either bots or subbed because of the Dungeon Siege or Diablo 1 videos. Still, I feel it's an excuse to do something special. Not going to say what, but I'm in the process of making it now (when I'm not trying to sift through 7-8 hours of Saints Row 3, the bits of Tera and War for the Overworld I have left, Guild Wars 1 and other things that have been getting stale on my hard drives).

Halfway finished the Among the Sleep LP, which really isn't that monumental as it was something like 3 hours long in total. Still, I feel like SOME progress is being made. Then poor Mesk and HKS have been wanting to play through more Guild Wars and Tera, but I've been all out a lot the past couple weeks (doing things like covering for my coworkers who monumentally messed up their shifts at work and interviewing for a new job). Once my hard drives are a little cleared up, I owe them quite a bit of game-time to catch up.

And hopefully I can avoid upsetting Mesk further with how I'm playing my archer in Tera. Hee.
